As I responded in one of the other comments you should take it on a case by case basis. If there is a Rest API available and you only need to use a handful of them, it's only a small overhead to code it up in something like Racket or CL. It's only the bigger API collections that cause more problems. That's when recruiting help from the community would be the right way to go.
